- NEW YORK – Many people today are seeking something different when it comes to talk radio. And now, with the launching of Progressive Radio Network (PRN), they are going to get it. Gary Null, notable author and health and wellness activist, has launched the progressive talk radio platform that features some of the most notable names within the progressive movement. It also has a line-up of shows and topics that would be difficult to find elsewhere, including those covering vegetarian and natural living, the environment, and progressive politics.
“The news about this network has really been spreading,” explains Null, an award-winning talk show host. “When one person finds out about it they can’t wait to tell 10 others. People find it refreshing to hear something different, especially from within the progressive movement.”
There are many things that listeners will find they can get at PRN that they can’t elsewhere, including:
· Freedom of speech. While it is something we all want, rarely are radio shows actually able to provide it, because they are so bound to please their corporate sponsors. PRN provides complete freedom of speech and is devoid of any media censorship. The show is wholly sponsored by donations from listeners, allowing the progressive talk radio show hosts to candidly focus on the issues.
· Honest progressive voices. PRN features an eclectic line-up of powerful voices from within the progressive movement. Along with Null, individual shows are lead by such notable names as Danny Schechter, Jim Turner, Beth Greer, Bruce and Marianne Curtis, Erik Davis, Dr. Steve Barnett, Stephen Lendman, Ron Weitz, Darryl Clark and Dr. Henry Grayson.
· Straight talk. On PRN, the progressive talk radio shows cover a wide variety of topics, some controversial. Shows focus on important issues of the time, such as the environment, politics, cultural affairs, autism, the economy, women’s health, mindful living, pets, and a variety of other issues within the progressive movement.
There are routinely conversations with progressive thinkers such as Ralph Nader, Noam Chomsky, and Francis Lappe, all of whom have all made special guest appearances on the PRN “Conversations with Remarkable Minds” show.
· No consumerism. Although the issue of consumerism may be discussed from time to time, PRN is unique in that it is financially supported by listeners, rather than corporations. Because of this, the shows do not have commercials or ads, and the hosts do not have to worry about offending corporate sponsors.
· Passion. In a time filled with so much apathy and indifference, PRN completely goes in the opposite direction. The shows founder, along with each of the other hosts, are all passionate about the topics they discuss. Their genuine interest and passion for the progressive movement comes through in every show, providing a breath of fresh air for many.
“Once people listen to our network they see that there is so much more that we have to offer,” adds Null. “Our mission is to have some honest conversations about the progressive movement. Using a grassroots radio approach, we are able to reach more people and have more freedom’s in doing so.”
